When you hear the word Google you automatically think search engine. Google has turned into an American verb and it is an action that everyone takes when they turn on their computer and search the Internet or choose to take advantage of its great advertising benefits. These great advertising benefits include Google Adwords, which is an effective and efficient way to advertising your business, on related searches or on Google’s Network through AdSense ads. Internet users are able to click on Google-sponsored search links and be navigated to websites like yours to buy products. Anyone can put Google Adwords to great use whether they are a small startup or a longtime business. This type of advertising is an incredible advertising network. Through Google Adwords there is even the opportunity to create ads for television through AdSense ads.

Setting up an Account

You may already have an account for Gmail, AdSense or Google Docs, and if you do you can use that same sign in for your AdWords account. If you don’t already have one of these accounts, then you will have to start from scratch by signing up as a new account user for AdWords. To set up you will need to fill in all of the basic information, and in addition to that you will be asked for billing information since you will be purchasing AdWords in order to advertise your business. Moreover, Google requires a one-time activation fee for account setup. The exact amount of how much you are required to pay varies by region, so you will have to type in your location and currency used to get an accurate quote.

Setting a Budget

Just like any business, you must consider money spent. You will do this by setting up a business budget for how much you want to spend every day on AdWords. You will need to indicate your budget on your account page. This will be the limit you set for Google and they will not go over this budget. Once you’ve chosen your budget, you will decide if you will pay per click or per thousand impressions of your ad. The pay per click option determines where the ad will appear in the search links, and how often those ads will appear on various websites. You should probably do your homework first and find out how much it costs to get a high ranking for keywords related to your site. This research will give you a clear picture of whether what you are doing is working or if you need to change your strategy. You should however, be willing to change your strategy if necessary. For example, if your budget is .25 per click and you continuously run out of money before the end of the day, then you may want to lower your bid to accommodate the large amount of clicks you’re receiving. In doing this, it will take longer to spend your budget, but you will receive more clicks for your money. On the flip side, if your budget is .25 and you don’t receive many clicks you will certainly want to update your budget or perhaps change your keywords in order to produce more clicks for the budget you’ve set. You must always monitor your budget and the number of clicks you receive in order to determine if you must make any changes.

Creating Ads

So you’ve chosen your keywords and you’ve monitored how those keywords help to bring traffic to your website to beat out your competition, and you’ve set your budget. Now you’re ready to create your ads. These ads will be made available to the consumer for them to click on and review your business. Don’t be too wordy in your product/business description. You will want to make sure you are concise and get straight to the point when giving your description. Tell your consumers exactly what to expect when they click on your site. You want to make sure that you get the best bang for your buck, so that you receive people that are really interested in your product and what you have to offer and are willing to click on your site’s link. Make sure that you are clear and not confusing in your descriptions, because if you are then you run the risk of having people peruse your site that are really not interested at all in your product even though they click on the link, and they cost you money by dipping into your advertising budget. Also, make sure to include the right keywords in the actual ad to draw people to your site. It’s important both to get them there and to make sure they stay and make a purchase. Moreover, to keep them there you must offer things that entice them. These incentives you provide should be things like free shipping, reward points, discount prices, etc.

Managing Campaigns

AdWords includes a dashboard for each account that allows you to track the performance of each of your ads. On the dashboard you can monitor the progress based on your rates per click, apply budget changes, or completely change your ad. You will notice the ads that are doing well and what you’re doing right with those ads in order to apply that same concept to other ads. Make sure to track your rate of success for the profitable ads and the failure rate for the unprofitable ads. For the ads that are not bringing in the most revenue you should question whether the keywords need to be changed, the ads need to be completely rewritten or whether you should increase your budget to find a better placement for it. Keep a record of any changes you make, and what’s working and what isn’t working in order to maintain success and be profitable. It’s all about trial and error when monitoring ad placement for your business, so don’t be afraid to experiment.

You're welcome :). Adwords is another one of those things that can seem really overwhelming, but once you get familiar with some of the options you have, there's really not a lot of guesswork.
